The Department of Private Animal Husbandry was organized in 1978 at the Kostanay Agricultural Institute. In connection with the transfer of animal husbandry to an industrial basis and the creation of large complexes, a zooengineering department was formed, and graduates began to receive the qualification of a Zooengineer.
In different years of its existence, the department was repeatedly renamed and headed:
Since 2002, the department has been called: «Technology of livestock production».
From 2005 to 2009, the department was named «Animal science and breeding».
Since 2009, the department has been renamed «Technology of food production».
From 2012 to the present, the department has received a new name – «Technology of production of animal products».
They were headed by associate professors Moskalenko Anatoly Nikolaevich, Shigaeva Maria Loginovna, Belova Alexandra Vasilyevna, Kahikalo Viktor Gavrilovich, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor Naimanov Doskali Kurmashevich, Shpis Alla Aleksandrovna, Shaikamal Gulshat Imanzhanovna
Great merits in the formation and development of the department belong to associate professors Belova A.V., Volchenko O.D., Gunko E.F., Tursunbaev T.K., Muslimov B.M. and other teachers.
Currently, the department is headed by the Candidate of Agricultural Sciences Brel-Kiseleva Inna Mikhailovna.
The teaching staff of the department «Technology of animal products production» meets the qualification requirements for licensing educational activities and has full knowledge with modern teaching methods, which allows you to organize an effective educational process for the preparation of bachelors, undergraduates, doctoral students in two languages, corresponding to the profile of the disciplines taught and systematically engaged in teaching, teaching and scientific activities.

In accordance with the normative documents, the department has developed and has all the educational and methodological documentation: standard and work plans, individual curricula. Their content fully meets the modern requirements of training specialists.
The staff of the department has prepared educational and methodological complexes (UMCS) for basic and profile disciplines (more than 100 disciplines) in accordance with the new requirements of the UMO. Active work is being carried out to analyze and improve the catalogues of elective courses on the department's OP.
