The main goal of the Department of Veterinary Sanitation is to meet the needs of the state for highly qualified specialists capable of ensuring the food security of the country and preserving the health of the nation.

These specialists are in demand in government agencies, research and scientific production institutions, in large agricultural holdings and laboratories of veterinary and sanitary expertise in retail chains.
The main employer is the Veterinary Department of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan. There are veterinary departments and departments under regional government structures, various departments of state veterinary supervision, where specialists in this field can be employed. There are also departmental veterinary and sanitary services under the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, where graduates of universities in this profession can be employed. It should be noted that the veterinary and sanitary situation is under the close attention of the state and professionals in this field will always be in demand.
The main professional task of a veterinary and sanitary doctor is to ensure biological safety in the subordinate territory. His duties include quality control of any products of animal or plant origin, compliance with the necessary sanitary requirements, standards and norms. In the modern world, with its huge turnover of food products, various biological materials and products, this profession is of great importance for the safety of society.
The veterinary and sanitary doctor provides control over the implementation of the necessary safety standards at all stages of handling food products – production, storage, transportation, processing, sale, disposal.
The department has three levels of education: bachelor's degree, Master's degree and doctoral degree. The training of specialists is conducted in the state and Russian languages.
